Our next Instructor Training in Personal Protection Outside The Home will be held over two weekends on August 9/10 and August 23/24 in Front Royal, VA. Direction will be posted soon.
The course will begin at 9:00.
You will need to provide:
(1) suitable pistol. A back-up pistol is
suggested since there is at least a 15% failure rate during training.
(2) strong side holster suitable for extended use -
we recommend Kydex or plastic holsters. First choices would
include the Blackhawk QCQ, and the Safariland 6070
or 6270. Retention is not required, but recommended.
Competition holsters like those by Blade-Tech, Uncle Mike's (Kydex), and Fobus are acceptable, but
retention holsters are preferred as that is what should be used on the
street. Holsters which do not completely cover the trigger are not acceptable.
(3) suitable belt - we strongly recommend a double
thickness leather belt. Dress belts are not a good idea, and will
cause you no end of trouble. Woven belts will
not be allowed. Belts by the Beltman
<http://www.thebeltman.net/> or similar are good. Duty belts are acceptable if
fitted properly and secure. It is not recommended you bring a
brand new duty belt to class.
(4) 2 extra magazines or speed loaders with a suitable magazine/speed loader pouch for your belt
(5) a minimum of 500 rounds of factory loaded ammunition, in factory boxes.
(6) suitable tactical flash light - such as those
manufactured by Surefire, Stream Light, and BlackHawk are
recommended. Lights such as the Inova (T1, T2, T2 or T4), LASER
Devices OV-1, can be made to work. A Mag-light is not suitable.
Flashlights SHOULD have momentary
switches (push-on, release-off, not push-on, stay-on, push-off).
It is strongly recommended the button be on the rear
cap.
(7) paper and pen for note taking
(8) You must also bring a hat suitable to be used
with your hearing protection that will also protect you from the sun.
(9) Bring suitable sun screen
If you have access to one or more gun purses please let us know.
NOTE: (1) Any student who covers
himself/herself or another student/instructor with an unloaded firearm
may finish the class but they will not be certified as instructors and
will not be allowed to use ammunition for the remainder of the class. No
refund will be provided.
(2) Any student who covers himself/herself or another
student/instructor with a loaded firearm will be ejected from the class immediately with no refund.
No ammunition is allowed in the
classroom.
